Zay Flowers’ fiery comments boost excitement in Ravens’ rising playmaker

Zay Flowers' fiery comments boost excitement in Ravens' rising playmaker

The Baltimore Ravens will need to find some more offensive firepower in the 2026 NFL Draft. They haven’t really added too much on that side of the ball in free agency, and they also lost key contributors like Tyler Linderbaum.

As a result of their losses, the offensive unit, which already needed some work this offseason, will require further improvements. Most notably, the interior offensive line will likely demand the most attention in this year’s draft.

Another area that looks kind of lackluster at the moment is wide receiver. The Ravens can’t leave the first two days of the draft without addressing the need for another weapon, but if they do, they may have an exciting wideout desperately waiting to emerge.

On Wednesday, two-time Pro Bowler Zay Flowers let everyone know that Tez Walker could be up next. He’s on the come-up.

Flowers carried the receiving game last year, becoming the only player to tally over 422 yards. His yard total? A career-high 1,211 yards, which was good for seventh-best in the NFL.

They need more from the wide receiver room next year, and while it couldn’t be more obvious that the Ravens need to search for a piece to play alongside the 25-year-old, they may actually already have that piece in Walker.

Of course, they shouldn’t bank on a Walker breakout. They can’t continue to neglect adding depth to Lamar Jackson’s arsenal of weapons. However, it’s hard to imagine that Walker doesn’t make impressive progress in 2026. With a new coaching staff, he may finally get the snaps needed to make a consistent impact.

Walker was one of the coolest stories last year. He made headlines after scoring two touchdowns on two receptions in a Week 2 win over the Cleveland Browns in 2025, meaning each of his first three career catches went for scores. That feat earned him the nickname, “Touchdown Tez.”

His big-play ability followed him all season. He was a consistent threat to take the top off the defense. Walker finished his sophomore campaign with six receptions, 136 yards, and five touchdowns. He also put up 22.7 yards per reception, doing significant damage every time he saw an opportunity.

With Tylan Wallace out the door and DeAndre Hopkins likely departing elsewhere, as well, snaps should only open up for Walker. Sure, Baltimore is expected to draft a wide receiver early, but reps should remain there for the taking.

He just needs to continue working for it, and it sounds like he’s doing everything coaches could possibly want out of him.
