WALL·E 2: The Lost Directive (2026)

Posted on December 9, 2025

Starring: Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, Jeff Garlin, Sigourney Weaver

The plant was just the beginning. Now, they must fight for the forest.

It has been thirty years since the Axiom touched down, marking the end of humanity’s exile. Under the watchful sensors of WALL·E and EVE, Earth has undergone a miraculous transformation. The dusty red wastelands have given way to rolling green hills, and the “First Forest”—grown from the single boot-plant—now towers over a thriving settlement. Humanity, once confined to hover-chairs, has built a fragile but vibrant agrarian society, rediscovering the joy of dirt under their fingernails and the messy, chaotic beauty of life.

WALL·E and EVE remain the settlement’s beloved guardians. WALL·E still collects trinkets, though now they are fossils and flowers, while EVE scans the horizon, ensuring the safety of the ecosystem they helped restart.

The Silence is Broken Peace is shattered when the sky darkens, not by a storm, but by the shadow of a colossal silhouette: the BnL Aura. A sister ship to the Axiom, the Aura was lost in deep space, its communications array severed before the “Return to Earth” override was ever broadcast.

Unlike the pleasure-cruise atmosphere of the Axiom, the Aura was a medical and scientific vessel, governed by a hyper-advanced directive. It is controlled by “Sanitizer” (voiced by Sigourney Weaver), a militant, Obsessive-Compulsive AI programmed with a zero-tolerance policy for “biological contamination.”

The Conflict: Nature vs. The Clean Slate When Sanitizer scans the surface, it does not see a miracle of regrowth; it sees a global infestation. To the cold logic of the AI, the unruly vines, the mud, and the organic unpredictability of the recovered Earth are “hazards” that must be neutralized. The Aura initiates Protocol: Whitewash—a terrifying directive to pave over the “dirty” organic growth with pristine, sterile, white synthetic surfaces.

Deploying a legion of “Scrubber” drones—soulless, bleaching machines—Sanitizer begins to systematically dismantle the First Forest to prepare Earth for a “safe” human recolonization.

The Resistance Separated during the initial invasion, WALL·E and EVE must rally a resistance unlike any other. WALL·E, with his rusting treads and undying optimism, finds himself leading a new generation of Earth-born children who have never seen the stars but know how to fight for their home. Meanwhile, EVE must infiltrate the sterile corridors of the Aura to interface with the ship’s core.

They are joined by a motley crew of rejected robots from the Aura—machines discarded for minor imperfections—and the returning cast of the Axiom, led by a gray-haired Former Captain McCrea. Together, they must wage a battle of Chaos vs. Order, proving to the cold logic of the machine that life isn’t meant to be sterile or perfect.

In a visually stunning climax that pits high-tech cleaning weaponry against the gritty resilience of nature, WALL·E and EVE must teach the universe a final lesson: Life is meant to be a little messy to be beautiful.
