Victor Wembanyama made a strong return from concussion protocol on Sunday, helping the San Antonio Spurs overcome a 19-point deficit and defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 114-93 in Game 4.

The Spurs trailed 58-41 at halftime but exploded in the second half with a 73-35 run, taking control of the game and seizing a commanding 3-1 lead in the first-round series. Game 5 returns to San Antonio on Tuesday, where the Spurs will have a chance to close out the series and advance.
Wembanyama looked sharp from the start, finishing with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 7 blocks, 4 steals, and 3 assists. His defensive presence was especially dominant in the second half, helping shut down Portland’s offense. De’Aaron Fox led all scorers with 28 points, adding 7 assists and 6 rebounds while shooting efficiently.
The Spurs opened the third quarter with a 13-0 run to spark the comeback. They took their first lead early in the fourth on a Wembanyama alley-oop from Stephon Castle and never looked back.
Wembanyama had been placed in the NBA’s concussion protocol after taking a hard fall in Game 2. He missed Game 3 in Portland but was cleared just before tipoff on Sunday and showed no lingering effects.
Late in the game, tensions rose when Stephon Castle and Portland’s Deni Avdija exchanged shoves after a basket, resulting in technical fouls for both players. The incident did not escalate further.
Wembanyama, a two-time All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 25 points, 11.5 rebounds, and a league-leading 3.1 blocks per game during the regular season. His return gives the Spurs a major boost as they push to advance in the playoffs.
San Antonio now sits one win away from the second round, with strong momentum heading back home.
