A spring break trip meant for fun has turned into a nightmare after a 20-year-old American student mysteriously disappeared from a popular nightclub in Barcelona, leaving his family searching for answers.
Jimmy Gracey, a junior at the University of Alabama, was last seen around 3:00 a.m. on March 17 at Shôko nightclub Barcelona, a well-known beachfront venue in the city’s Port Olímpic district. According to his mother, Therese Gracey, he had been at the club with a friend—but while his friend left, Jimmy stayed behind and has not been seen since.
What makes the case even more troubling is that Jimmy never returned to his Airbnb, located roughly three kilometers away on Ronda de Sant Pere. His phone was later recovered by police after reportedly being found on another individual, raising further questions about what may have happened in the hours after he was last seen.
In a heartfelt plea shared online, his mother urged anyone with information to come forward. “The police have his phone, but he never made it back,” she wrote, describing the growing fear and uncertainty surrounding his disappearance.
Jimmy had been traveling through Europe before arriving in Barcelona, spending time in Amsterdam just days earlier. Friends and family describe him as outgoing and responsible—a young man with a bright future ahead.
Authorities from Mossos d’Esquadra have launched an investigation, confirming that surveillance footage from the nightclub has been secured and is being reviewed. So far, however, no clear leads have been publicly disclosed.
Standing approximately 6’1” and weighing around 175 pounds, Jimmy was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants, and a gold chain with a cross.
As the search continues, his family remains hopeful—but time is critical.
Anyone who may have seen Jimmy or has information is urged to come forward as the mystery deepens around his sudden disappearance
