Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money (2026)

Posted on December 6, 2025

Starring: Mel Brooks, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Josh Gad

The Schwartz Awakens… for Profit

It was prophesied, and now, fueled primarily by the imminent expiration of merchandising rights, it has arrived! Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money (2026) finally fulfills the promise of the original film, dragging the galaxy’s most incompetent villains and reluctant heroes back into a satirical battle for galactic dominance—and profit margins.

The nefarious, yet perpetually unsuccessful, President Skroob (Mel Brooks) makes his grand, if slightly pixelated, return via a budget-conscious AI hologram (because, as the film self-referentially points out, “It’s cheaper than a full SAG contract”). Skroob’s new diabolical plan is not merely to steal air, a dated concept, but to seize control of the galaxy’s most precious resource: its Wi-Fi passwords, thereby forcing every sentient being to subscribe to his new, ad-riddled streaming platform, “Spaceballs+ Premium.”

Mid-Life Crisis and a Furry New Sidekick

Meanwhile, the reluctant hero Lone Starr (Bill Pullman) and the perpetually pampered Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) are pulled out of their surprisingly mundane domestic lives. Now facing empty-nest syndrome, mid-life crises, and the crushing weight of their own legacy, they are summarily dragged back into action against their will.

They are joined by a new, equally furry and perpetually hungry addition to the crew: “Ralph” (Josh Gad), the loud and nervously energetic nephew of Barf. Ralph, a registered therapy animal who constantly breaks the fourth wall to comment on the movie’s excessive product placement, provides the comic relief that the producers clearly felt they needed.

Kylo Rent-a-Cop and the Franchise Farce

The heroic trio must confront a new generation of parody villains. Chief among them is “Kylo Rent-a-Cop,” a brooding antagonist who worships the massive, oversized helmet of the late Dark Helmet. Clad in ill-fitting armor and speaking exclusively in mumbles and existential angst, Rent-a-Cop leads the charge for Skroob’s streaming tyranny.

The film spares no blockbuster franchise, heavily skewering the Star Wars sequels’ narrative choices, the confusing grandeur of the Dune franchise, and the overwhelming trend of the cinematic multiverse. Spaceballs 2 breaks the fourth wall so aggressively it practically shatters the camera lens and fires a laser blast directly at the audience. Expect an abundance of gratuitous lens flares, pointed jokes about “toxic fandom” and cinematic reboots, and a chaotic climax featuring a climactic lightsaber duel fought entirely with brightly packaged, highly lucrative franchise merchandise. The message is clear: the most dangerous thing in the galaxy isn’t the Schwartz—it’s studio greed.
