WASHINGTON D.C. — The walls may be closing in on Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA). Explosive allegations from a Democrat whistleblower, substantiated by newly declassified FBI interview reports, suggest that the prominent lawmaker orchestrated a campaign of classified leaks to destroy Donald Trump—a scheme that could land him in federal prison for decades.
“Unethical and Possibly Treasonous”
According to reports from Just The News, a former staffer who served Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee for over a decade told the FBI that Schiff explicitly authorized the leaking of classified intelligence.
The whistleblower alleges that during an all-staff meeting, Schiff declared that “the group would leak classified information which was derogatory to President of the United States Donald J. Trump” with the specific intent to “indict” him in the court of public opinion.
When the whistleblower objected, calling the plan “unethical and possibly treasonous,” he was reportedly assured, “we would not be caught.” He was later fired.
The Legal Consequences
Former U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman did not mince words about the severity of these accusations. Speaking to commentator Benny Johnson, Tolman outlined a potential legal nightmare for Schiff.
“It depends on the counts in the indictment… The fine is up to $250,000 for every leak that’s charged,” Tolman explained.
But the fines are the least of Schiff’s worries. Tolman noted that if prosecutors determine the intent was “to undermine the United States,” the penalties could skyrocket.
“Up to 20 years in federal prison,” Tolman warned. “I believe this was, in essence, the beginning of a conspiracy to take down a president, to impact his ability to lead.”
The Swalwell Connection and FBI Inaction
The whistleblower also identified Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) as a “likely conduit” for the leaks. Furthermore, the source claims Schiff believed he had been promised the position of CIA Director if Hillary Clinton won the 2016 election, suggesting a quid pro quo for his role in the operation.
Perhaps most damning is the allegation of FBI complicity. The whistleblower claims to have reported this to the bureau starting in 2017, and again to the St. Louis office in 2023, yet FBI Director Christopher Wray and his leadership took “no action.”
“Conspiracy Statutes”
While treason is a high bar legally, Tolman suggested other statutes could easily apply. “There are other statutes — conspiracy statutes, interference with official proceedings… related crimes that could come into play.”
For Schiff, who has long characterized such accusations as “partisan attacks,” the declassified FBI reports present a challenge that cannot be dismissed with a soundbite. If these allegations are proven in court, the former Intelligence Committee Chairman could be trading his Senate seat for a prison cell.
