Rylan Clark and Emma Willis break silence on Strictly Come Dancing host rumours

Rylan Clark and Emma Willis have addressed the rumours surrounding Strictly Come Dancing, as they’re tipped to be the next presenters.

The beloved BBC competition is facing a major shake-up amid a series of professional dancers leaving the show.

This comes after Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced they were stepping down, with last year’s Christmas special becoming their final time as hosts on Strictly.

The BBC has yet to confirm who could be taking over, but several names have been thrown into the mix such as Zoe Ball and Alison Hammond.

This Morning stars Rylan and Emma have now addressed whether they would step into the role, as they hosted the ITV daytime programme today, covering for Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins had asked them: “Rylan and Emma are here on This Morning at 10, good morning to both of you. We’ve been talking about you two this morning, because we hear you’re both in the frame for the Strictly draw? Have you got anything to tell us?”

Rylan was quick to deny the rumours, while Emma hesitated before confirming: “Ahh… no!”

Turning the question back on Charlotte and her Good Morning Britain co-host Richard Madeley, Emma replied: “You two are also rumoured, aren’t you? You’re on that list!”

Richard quipped that his odds stood at 66/1, while Charlotte was at 20/1.

This comes after fellow This Morning star Alison shut down rumours she’d be stepping into the ballroom as host.

The Big Brother icon, who is already juggling her ITV duties with The Great British Bake Off and new Channel 4 series Your Song, confirmed to Radio Times that Strictly bosses had approached her.

She laughed: “You didn’t expect that answer, did you? I can’t lie, I’m incapable.”

She then said: “I’m so busy, babes, that I’m not sure it’s going to happen.

“It’s unrealistic. I’m so happy they considered me but, like Traitors, I can’t do it because everything clashes.”

She continued: “I would have loved to have done it – anybody that gets it, they’re going to land the perfect job. But I’m so happy with everything I’ve got. What would I drop, to do Strictly?”

Tess and Claudia announced they were quitting Strictly last year, saying their time on the show had been “an absolute dream” but it “feels like the right time” to leave.

They wrote: “We have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream. We were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time.

“We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show. They’re the most brilliant team and we’ll miss them every day.

“We will cry when we say the last “keep dancing” but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza.”

Tess – who gained a Guinness World Record for the longest-serving host of the same dance competition TV show – began presenting Strictly from its inception in 2004, first with Sir Bruce Forsyth, and then with Claudia when she joined as a co-host in 2014.

The ITV programme made its return on Saturday (April 11) evening, featuring another group of aspiring acts hoping to secure their spot at the Royal Variety Performance and bag £250,000.

Panellists Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI took their familiar positions as the opening contestant stepped onto the stage with a rather unconventional performance.

Christy, hailing from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, delivered a musical number dedicated to scotch eggs, leaving the judging panel completely bewildered.

Online star KSI didn’t hesitate to slam the buzzer before burying his face in his palms, while Simon watched on in shock, reports Wales Online.

At the same time, Alesha and Amanda were spotted chuckling and applauding, appearing entertained as Christy retrieved a scotch egg from his sock, which then fell apart across the stage floor.

“Scotch egg, scotch egg, scotch egg, it’s a hard-boiled egg in a sausage casing”, Christy crooned as backing music kicked in behind him.

Once the performance concluded, Christy extended a scotch egg towards an unimpressed KSI, who swiftly refused before declaring, “I don’t even like scotch eggs”.

“I would happily put you on the Royal Variety purely based on that song, you’ve got a yes from me”, Amanda declared while Simon remarked, “I’m not going to get that song out of my head, it was terrible”, before also awarding him a yes.

As Christy, who has amassed over 70k followers on Instagram and more than 460k on TikTok, progressed to the next stage of the contest, BGT watchers flocked to social media to express their backing for him.
