A mother of four who once tipped the scales at 22 stone has transformed her life, dropping to around 10 stone after a humiliating experience at a theme park left her determined to change.

Danielle McGill, 36, from Sunderland, turned to food for comfort following the loss of her father to cancer. Her daily intake often reached up to 10,000 calories, including big fried breakfasts, fast food lunches, and evening takeaways. This led to her reaching a size 26, where everyday activities became challenging.
She shared that she couldn’t even enjoy rollercoaster rides — a favorite memory with her dad — because she was too large to fit on one at Flamingo Land. That moment pushed her to take action. In January 2025, Danielle started using weight-loss injections to help control her appetite, combined with a complete lifestyle overhaul.

Now weighing about 11st 11lbs and fitting into a size 8, she feels happier and more confident. She can once again ride rollercoasters with her children and sit comfortably in theater seats without worry.
Danielle explained the emotional side: after losing her dad in 2019 and having young children, she neglected her own health and used eating as a way to cope. But she decided to show herself kindness and focus on being healthier for her family.
Her new routine includes high-protein meals like iced coffee for breakfast, chicken with rice for lunch, and steak with vegetables in the evening. She swapped takeaways for healthier choices and says the injections gave her the mental space to make lasting changes.
This inspiring story shows how small steps and self-compassion can lead to big transformations, helping her enjoy life more fully with her kids.
