Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children 2: Hollow City (2026)

Posted on December 10, 2025

Starring: Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Samuel L. Jackson Directed by: Tim Burton

The Sanctuary is Gone. The Real War Begins.

The safety of the loop has been shattered, and the eternal summer of 1943 is a distant memory. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children 2: Hollow City thrusts the beloved band of Peculiars out of their secluded island sanctuary and into the harrowing, fog-drenched reality of war-torn London during the Blitz.

The Rise of a Leader

Asa Butterfield returns as Jacob Portman, but gone is the confused, hesitant outsider from Florida. In this gritty sequel, Jacob has been forged into a battle-hardened leader. No longer just a boy who can see the monsters, he has begun to master the terrifying ability to communicate with and control the Hollowgasts. As the group navigates a world of falling bombs and hidden enemies, Jacob struggles with the heavy burden of command, knowing that he is the only line of defense standing between his new family and total annihilation.

The Fallen Protector & The Warrior

Eva Green reprises her role as the mesmerizing Miss Peregrine, yet the dynamic has shifted drastically. Trapped in her bird form and injured, the once-invincible matriarch is now the one in desperate need of protection. Despite her vulnerable state, her presence remains the emotional anchor of the film—her gothic elegance and fierce love acting as the group’s guiding star even as her magic dangerously fades.

By Jacob’s side, Ella Purnell shines with incandescent intensity as Emma Bloom. She steps fully into the role of a fierce warrior, her character arc transforming her from a sheltered girl into a force of nature. Purnell delivers a performance that balances ethereal lightness with gritty determination, proving that her ability to manipulate air is not just a parlor trick, but a devastating weapon against the encroaching darkness.

A Darker Shade of Evil

The hunt has never been more lethal. Samuel L. Jackson returns with terrifying charisma as Barron (or perhaps a new, even more sinister incarnation of the Wight leader). The villains have evolved; the Hollowgasts are no longer mindless beasts but are becoming organized, lethal hunters. The Wights have infiltrated the highest ranks of human military and society, blurring the lines between the horrors of World War II and the secret war of the Peculiars. In the crumbling streets of London, trust is a luxury no one can afford.

A Visual Masterpiece

With Tim Burton at the helm, the sequel pushes his signature “dark whimsy” into the realm of gothic survival horror. The film promises a visual feast: the stark, grey rubble of 1940s London juxtaposed against the vibrant, strange magic of the Peculiars. From skeleton armies to underwater escapes and carnivals of the grotesque, the imagery captures a world on the brink of collapse.

In a city where death rains from the sky, the Peculiars must embrace their “weirdness” not merely to hide, but to wage war. They learn that being normal is overrated—and in a world gone mad, being Peculiar is the only way to survive.

Key Highlights of the Sequel:

  • The Setting: A haunting, atmospheric journey through the London Underground and bombed-out cathedrals.
  • The Action: High-stakes battles where specific peculiarities (strength, fire, invisibility) are combined in creative combat sequences.
  • The Stakes: It is a race against time to find a cure for Miss Peregrine before she is trapped in bird form forever.
