WASHINGTON — Veteran Democratic political strategist James Carville recently reiterated his stance that Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) should leave the Democratic Party. Speaking on the Straight Shooter podcast hosted by Stephen A. Smith, Carville expanded on comments he originally made in May 2025, highlighting the ongoing ideological divides within the party’s coalition.
Carville’s Critiques and Electoral StrategyCarville’s criticism of Omar frequently references her past rhetoric, specifically a 2018 interview with Al Jazeera in which she stated that Americans “should be more fearful of white men because they’re causing most of the deaths within this country.”
Carville argued that alienating demographic blocs is a mathematically flawed electoral strategy for the Democratic Party.
“About 33% of the people that are gonna vote are gonna be white males,” Carville stated. “Well, it’s stupid to attack 33% of the voters!”
He emphasized that racial and demographic groups are not monoliths, stating, “All white people are not the same. All black people are not the same. All Hispanic people are not the same.”
Carville suggested that Omar and other like-minded progressive lawmakers formally align with the Democratic Socialists of America. He proposed a parliamentary-style approach where progressives form a “governing coalition” with mainstream Democrats rather than sharing the same “electoral coalition.”

She stated: “Iraq was attacked by the US during Ramadan and it is sickening to know that the US is again going to attack Iran during Ramadan,” adding her belief that the U.S. targets Muslim countries based on religion rather than violations of international law.
Critics responded by pointing out historical inaccuracies in her timeline—noting that the 2003 invasion of Iraq and the 1991 Gulf War both commenced months prior to Ramadan in their respective years. Furthermore, political opponents argued that framing U.S. military operations as religiously motivated could be leveraged as propaganda by adversarial nations during an active military standoff.
