Home Alone: The Last Trap (2026)

Posted on December 6, 2025

Starring: Macaulay Culkin, Catherine O’Hara, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern

Knocking on His Own Door

The tables have turned, and this time, Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) is the one desperately trying to get into the house. Home Alone: The Last Trap sees a grown-up Kevin, who has monetized his childhood trauma, as the paranoid CEO of “McCallister Home Defense,” a colossal high-tech security empire. His own ultra-modern estate, ironically dubbed “The Fortress,” is a networked marvel of impenetrable security—until Christmas Eve, when a massive, coordinated cyber-attack cripples his entire “Smart House” grid, disabling all protocols, alarms, and doors. Kevin is locked out, and worse, his unsuspecting 10-year-old son, Finn, is locked in.

The Vengeance of the Wet Bandits

As if the holiday couldn’t get more stressful, the universe delivers the ultimate Christmas curse: the legendary “Wet Bandits,” Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern). Now elderly, vengeful, and sporting matching orthopedic shoes, the duo has engineered an elaborate escape from a minimum-security retirement facility. They aren’t looking for cash or jewels this time; they want pure, unadulterated, multi-generational revenge on the McCallister bloodline. They arrive at the Fortress just as the cyber-attack hits, believing the locked-down house is their perfect opportunity for a final, sweet score.

A Generational Clash of Slapstick

While Kevin battles a worsening Christmas blizzard and his own company’s sophisticated security protocols in a desperate attempt to break into his fortress, his son Finn stumbles upon a sacred, forgotten artifact: Kevin’s original, hand-scrawled “Battle Plan” notebook from 1990.

What follows is an epic generational clash of slapstick violence. The Wet Bandits, relying on old-school techniques like crowbars and rudimentary planning, find themselves up against Finn, who blends his father’s maniacal ingenuity with 21st-century tech. Old-school paint cans meet modern drone warfare, electrified door handles are upgraded to sentient laser grids, and the simple icy sidewalk is replaced by a sophisticated, autonomous slip-and-slide system. Catherine O’Hara also returns for a pivotal, albeit brief, appearance as Kate McCallister, offering her classic blend of panic and maternal protectiveness from afar.

Harry and Marv will quickly learn that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree—and that the next generation of McCallister traps hits even harder, thanks to decades of technological advancement and inherited trauma.
