He Was 22. She Was 94. Police Describe a Disturbing Attack Inside Her Baton Rouge Home

Posted on April 28, 2026

Baton Rouge police responded to a distress call around 2:10 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon reporting an assault at a local residence. When officers arrived, they found a 94-year-old woman who had been the victim of a serious sexual assault inside her own home. Emergency responders provided immediate medical care, and authorities later confirmed she survived the attack.

Officials chose not to release specific details about the victim or the exact location to protect her privacy and dignity, given her advanced age. Even with limited information shared, the case quickly drew attention and concern across the community, with many residents expressing disbelief that such an incident could happen to someone so elderly in what should be a safe place.

Detectives from the Baton Rouge Police Department’s Special Victims Unit led the investigation, focusing on collecting evidence, reviewing nearby surveillance, and gathering any helpful information from the public. Their quick work paid off. Within 24 hours, they identified 22-year-old Jeremiah Taylor as the suspect. He was located and taken into custody on Friday.

Baton Rouge Police Chief T.J. Morse confirmed that Taylor faces a charge of first-degree rape. Under Louisiana law, this is one of the most serious offenses, especially in cases involving victims of advanced age. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Investigators are still working to understand how Taylor came into contact with the victim and whether there was any prior connection or if the incident was random. They are also reviewing his background and movements around the time of the event while checking to ensure no other victims are involved.

Community members have described the case as deeply troubling, highlighting worries about the safety of vulnerable residents, particularly seniors living alone. Police continue to urge anyone with information about Taylor or the incident to contact the Special Victims Unit or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Taylor is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. As the investigation and legal process move forward, authorities say their focus remains on supporting the survivor and her family while seeking full accountability for what happened that afternoon.
