WASHINGTON D.C. — The battle lines are drawn in the House of Representatives, and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is squarely in the crosshairs. Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) is actively considering forcing a historic vote to expel the controversial Democrat, declaring that she “should not be a citizen, let alone a member of Congress.”
“General Embrace of Terror”
Speaking to Axios, Fine revealed he is weighing the nuclear option based on serious allegations, including the long-standing rumor that Omar married her brother to bypass immigration laws, and
“I don’t think she should be a citizen,” Fine stated bluntly.
The potential move comes after Omar’s campaign sent fundraising emails calling for Fine’s expulsion over his past comments about “destroying” Muslims. Fine shot back, promising that if he moves against her, it won’t be a fundraising stunt.
“If I’m going to do that, you will see me bring the piece of paper. And I am actively considering that,” Fine warned.
The “Garbage” Label
The pressure on Omar isn’t just coming from the House floor; it’s coming from the top of the Republican ticket. President Donald Trump recently referred to the congresswoman as “garbage” and blasted the large-scale migration from nations like Somalia.
“I don’t want them in our country. I’ll be honest with you,” Trump said. “Her friends are garbage. These aren’t people that work… These are people that do nothing but complain.”
The $250 Million Fraud Connection
Beyond the rhetoric, serious questions are swirling regarding the massive fraud scandal centered in Omar’s district. The “Feeding Our Future” scheme saw approximately $250 million (and potentially up to $1 billion) stolen from taxpayer-funded child nutrition programs during the pandemic.
Republican challenger John Nagel is accusing Omar of enabling the theft through her legislative work.
The MEALS Act: Omar introduced this bill, which loosened eligibility requirements for meal distribution. Nagel claims this legislation “actually started” the fraud.
The Geography: Nagel points out the fraud is “primarily in her district,” calling it “odd” that the theft was so concentrated.
The Connections: Nagel alleges Omar held campaign events at the Safari Restaurant, a business tied to the investigation, and had personal familiarity with its convicted owners.
“Absolutely Not”
When pressed by Fox News on whether she regrets pushing the legislation that allegedly opened the door to such massive theft, Omar remained defiant.
“Absolutely not, it did help feed kids,” she insisted.
With a narrow Republican majority, expelling a member requires a two-thirds vote, meaning at least 85 Democrats would have to turn on their own colleague. But as the allegations of fraud and “terror” support mount, Randy Fine seems ready to force them to go on the record.
