Far-Left 'Squad' Member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Found GUILTY - Next Steps Will Determine Her Future In House

WASHINGTON D.C. — Far-left Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been found guilty of violating House ethics rules in a humiliating conclusion to the “Tax the Rich” dress scandal.

The House Ethics Committee determined that the New York Democrat improperly accepted thousands of dollars in impermissible gifts related to her appearance at the 2021 Met Gala, including the now-infamous couture gown she wore to protest wealth inequality while partying with the elite.

While the panel decided not to issue formal sanctions, the ruling is a stinging rebuke of AOC’s conduct. The committee concluded that her actions violated “House rules, laws, and standards of conduct,” forcing her to pay up for the luxury items she tried to get for pennies on the dollar.

The investigation revealed a chaotic pattern of non-payment and lowballing by AOC’s team. The fair-market value of the custom Brother Vellies dress, shoes, jewelry, and accessories totaled $3,724.04, yet AOC’s campaign delayed payments for months and eventually paid just $990.76.

Vendors were stiffed for so long that some threatened legal action. A hairstylist, left with an unpaid $477 bill for nearly six months, even threatened to report the congresswoman to the New York Department of Labor.

Her staff, including former campaign manager Rebecca Rodriguez, were caught trying to negotiate the cost of the custom gown down from $1,300 to a laughable $300, comparing a handmade couture piece to cheap online rentals. The committee slammed this defense as “unrealistic.”

The report also found that AOC improperly gave her boyfriend, Riley Roberts, a free ticket to the exclusive $35,000-per-head event. Under House rules, this was a clear violation.

To resolve the matter, the committee has ordered AOC to pay an additional $2,733.28 to the designer and donate $250 to cover her boyfriend’s dinner. Her Chief of Staff, Mike Casca, stated she “accepts the ruling” and will remedy the amounts.

The irony is palpable. AOC attended the gala as a guest of Vogue editor Anna Wintour to deliver a message about taxing the rich, yet she and her team acted with the entitlement of the very class she claims to despise—expecting freebies, ignoring bills, and stiffing workers.

Her lawyer’s defense—that “no one appeared to be thinking about the cost”—only highlights the disconnect. For a self-proclaimed champion of the working class, failing to pay the people who dressed her is a scandal that no “Tax the Rich” slogan can cover up.
