A tense congressional hearing erupted into one of the most talked-about moments on Capitol Hill when Representative Ted Lieu confronted Attorney General Pam Bondi with a single document that appeared to contradict her sworn testimony.
What began as a routine oversight session quickly turned into a dramatic exchange centered on an alleged financial transaction linked to the long-running investigation surrounding Jeffrey Epstein.
For much of the hearing, Bondi appeared confident. Surrounded by legal advisers and armed with a prepared 37-page statement, she repeatedly told lawmakers she had no knowledge of financial transfers connected to Epstein-related matters.
Then Lieu spoke.
The former military prosecutor, who previously served in the Air Force’s Judge Advocate General Corps, approached the moment methodically. After more than fifteen minutes of questions, he displayed a document on the hearing room screen.

When asked what such precision might indicate to a prosecutor about financial intent, Bondi responded cautiously.

Lieu then presented another detail: the originating bank account linked to the transfers had reportedly been closed 72 hours after investigators flagged it in a suspicious activity report.
