During an interview this week with Pause Rewind, Dr. Drew— who has known Jenelle since she appeared on “16 and Pregnant” in 2010— claimed that Jenelle has serious mental health issues that the show’s producers worked hard to assist her with.
“Jenelle has been struggling with mental health issues for a long time,” he said. “Most of them were far more serious than people know. Great lengths were taken by MTV and the producers to get her help.”

Dr. Drew applauded MTV and the ‘Teen Mom’ producers for going the extra mile to try to help some of the girls featured on the shows.
“I’ve told them repeatedly, you should take a bow for what you’ve done for some of these kids, Jenelle was one of them,” he said. “And, at times, she was doing quite well. When she was sort of— let’s call it ‘with the program.’ And when she’s not, it’s struggles.”
Dr. Drew went on to talk about Jenelle’s eldest son Jace and the problems he’s had over the years. (As fans know, Jace has been in several mental health facilities over the last few years and, according to Jenelle, has multiple mental health disorders.)

According to Dr. Drew, Jace’s issues are likely due to the chaos he grew up in.
“[Jace] has been in situations which, multiple adverse childhood experiences increase the probability of not just violent acting out but serious mental health problems,” Dr. Drew said, before giving his thoughts on Jace’s current situation.
“Jace can be helped, but I hope he gets it,” he said.

As The Ashley previously reported, Jenelle had kept Jace in a mental health facility for about a month in February and early March (despite Barbara and Jace’s dad Andrew Lewis wanting Jace to be released into their care). Late last month, Jenelle pulled Jace out of the facility and has taken him to an unknown location, according to Andrew.
Andrew and Barbara have both lawyered up and are preparing to battle Jenelle in mediation— and then court— for custody of Jace.
Anyway, it is not yet known what prompted Dr. Drew to suddenly discuss Jenelle and her alleged mental health issues, as Pause Rewind has not posted the rest of the interview.
