In a largely symbolic move with zero chance of success, Rep. John Larson (D-Conn.) has filed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.
The resolution, introduced on April 6, accuses the President of “serial usurpation” of war powers, “murder,” “war crimes,” and even “piracy” in connection with U.S. military actions against Iran. It joins a long list of previous failed Democratic impeachment attempts against Trump.
The filing comes as Larson faces a tough primary challenge from the left in Connecticut’s 1st District. Critics see the move as more about political survival than constitutional principle, especially as Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) has echoed calls for invoking the 25th Amendment, claiming the President is “unstable.”
The resolution sits in the House Judiciary Committee with no scheduled hearings or path to the floor in a Republican-controlled House. White House officials dismissed it as another chapter in the “Resistance” playbook that has repeatedly failed.
This latest effort highlights the deep partisan divide in Washington, even as the administration continues its focus on national security and the ongoing situation with Iran. While Democrats push symbolic gestures, Republicans are emphasizing results and accountability on the world stage.
The articles are expected to go nowhere, but they guarantee more political noise in an already heated 2026 midterm environment.
