BRITAIN’S Got Talent has been hit with 108 Ofcom complaints after a shocking act left viewers reeling.
Talent show veteran Leroy Patterson, 42, stripped down to his boxer shorts and leapt full force onto a pile of metal mousetraps in front of horrified judges Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon on Saturday night.
Guest judge Stacey Solomon immediately hit her buzzer, while KSI laughed at the spectacle and hosts Ant and Dec clasped hands to their faces in the wings.
In addition to the complaints filed to the broadcasting watchdog, viewers also shared their discomfort online.
One wrote on YouTube: “So are we promoting SH for fun now #BGT ? Cause essentially that’s what Leroy just did. Ya’all mental.“
Another said: “He seems like a very likeable guy, but the act was just extremely uncomfortable to watch.”
A third wrote: “These people shouldn’t be allowed on this show – utterly ridiculous.”
A fourth shared: “This shouldn’t be encouraged, I really like him as a person he’s a great guy with a great personality, but I don’t think it’s right to encourage people to harm themselves or think it’s okay to harm themselves like this it’s too far.”
The bearded dangerman gave the audience three important safety tips during his act.
The first was the mousetrap dive, which was followed by Leroy sitting down heavily on spiky carpet fixing strips, prompting Amanda to cry out: “Why would you do that?”
For his final challenge, he ran through a tunnel of weed strimmers, leading Alesha to slam her red buzzer.
Everyone grimaced and Ant McPartlin asked: “Is he still alive?”
Leroy did complete his act in one piece to a standing ovation and received little more than scratches.
The stuntman, who appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2015, admitted it was “stupidity”.
He initially got two yeses from Amanda and KSI and two nos from Alesha and Stacey, who said he’d “gone too far”.
However, after KSI initiated an audience chant of “we want more” she changed her mind, sending him through.
