RICHMOND, VA — A prominent Virginia Democrat official is behind bars facing federal charges described by authorities as “horrendous,” sending shockwaves through the state’s political establishment.
“Sickening” Allegations
Randon Sprinkle, a former finance chairman for the Virginia Democratic Party, was charged after a federal investigation uncovered disturbing material on his electronic devices.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, a forensic examination of Sprinkle’s computer revealed archived files containing child pornography. The details are graphic: an affidavit states one video depicts an adult male sexually assaulting an infant.
“What has been alleged is disgusting and abhorrent,” said Richmond City Council Vice President Katherine Jordan, who previously employed Sprinkle as her campaign treasurer. “I’m shocked and sickened.”
The FBI Sting
The investigation reportedly began with an undercover operation. Sprinkle, 30, allegedly communicated with an undercover FBI agent on the “Jack’d” app under the alias “Randy.”
The 9-page affidavit reveals that Sprinkle moved the conversation to Telegram, where he allegedly made a chilling admission about his preferences, stating he was “mostly into young, rape, incest.“
Agents from the FBI’s Richmond field office executed a search warrant on October 16, 2025, seizing devices that contained 68 files with titles described as disturbing.
Political Fallout
The arrest has created a political nightmare for Virginia Democrats. Sprinkle served as finance director for the state party and treasurer for the Metro Richmond Area Young Democrats. He has been photographed with multiple high-profile figures.

Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan‘s office quickly issued a statement: “Congresswoman McClellan is shocked by these appalling accusations which should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
If convicted, Sprinkle faces a mandatory minimum of five years in federal prison.
Meanwhile: Bongino Exits FBI
In a separate development rocking the law enforcement community, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced his resignation during an emotional appearance on Fox & Friends.
Bongino, who served under the Trump administration’s revamped bureau, revealed the personal toll the job has taken on his family.
“I gave up everything for this,” Bongino said, holding back emotion. “My wife is struggling… I stare at these four walls all day in DC, by myself divorced from my wife – not divorced, but I mean separated-divorced, and it’s hard.”
Bongino defended his tenure, distinguishing himself from past leadership. “I’m not a victim. I’m not Jim Comey. It’s fine. I did this and I’m proud I did it.”
The departure marks a significant shakeup in federal law enforcement just as the bureau closes a major case against a political operative in Virginia.
