Zohran mamdani Goes Ballistic after ICE arrests his top Aide

NEW YORK CITY — The simmering conflict between New York City’s radical sanctuary policies and federal immigration law has finally erupted into open warfare, leaving the administration of newly inaugurated Mayor Zohran Mamdani in a state of absolute chaos.

Mayor Mamdani has reportedly gone “ballistic” and launched a furious public tirade after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents executed a targeted arrest of a City Council staffer on Long Island. The incident has exposed a massive vetting failure within City Hall.

While the mayor and his allies are attempting to frame the arrest as a political attack, federal authorities have revealed a starkly different reality involving visa fraud and violence. The staffer was not merely an undocumented immigrant; he was a criminal offender.

Mamdani did not mince words, immediately taking to X (formerly Twitter) to express his fury while conveniently ignoring the legal facts of the situation. He framed the lawful detention of a visa violator as an existential threat to the city’s governance.

“I am outraged… This is an assault on our democracy, on our city, and our values,” Mamdani wrote, demanding the staffer’s immediate release. Council Speaker Julie Menin joined the chorus, claiming the employee was authorized to work until 2026.

“We are doing everything we can to secure his immediate release,” Menin stated. However, the narrative of a victimized public servant collapsed almost instantly when federal authorities released the detainee’s actual background and criminal history.

The detainee, identified as Rafael Andres Rubio Bohorquez, is a Venezuelan national with a troubling history that City Hall either missed or ignored. According to federal authorities, Bohorquez entered the U.S. in 2017 on a tourist visa and never left.

Officials confirmed that he had “no legal right to be in the United States.” Even more damning is the revelation that Bohorquez had a prior arrest for assault, a fact that seemingly did not disqualify him from obtaining a sensitive position as a “data analyst.”

While Mamdani screams about “democracy,” ICE was simply doing its job: removing a foreign national who violated his visa terms and had a criminal history involving violence. The contrast between the mayor’s rhetoric and the staffer’s record is glaring.

The arrest raises serious questions about the competence of City Hall’s hiring practices. How did an individual with an active deportation status and a documented assault record get hired and paid with taxpayer money to work in the City Council?

Critics argue this is a massive vetting failure driven by ideology. In their rush to signal virtue and defy federal law, city officials seemingly bypassed basic background checks, using public funds to employ those who have broken federal statutes.

This incident underscores the panic among Democrat leaders. For years, they believed they could shield illegal immigrants from consequences. But under the new administration, a City Hall ID badge is no longer a “Get Out of Jail Free” card.

Mamdani can file petitions and scream about values, but the rules have changed. As long as federal law reigns supreme, his “values” of harboring criminals will continue to lose against the value of public safety and the rule of law.
