SAN ANTONIO — The Minnesota Timberwolves listed star guard Anthony Edwards as questionable for Game 1 of their second-round playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night. Edwards is recovering from a bone bruise in his left knee after hyperextending it in Game 4 of the first round against the Denver Nuggets.

Edwards participated in light on-court work over the weekend, traveled with the team to San Antonio, and was cleared for basketball activities ahead of Monday’s morning shootaround. There is growing optimism that he could return sooner than expected, with team sources noting he is ahead of the initial timeline targeting Games 3 or 4.
Edwards has also been dealing with ongoing inflammation in his right knee over the past month. Known for his aggressive recovery approach, he has beaten expected timelines before during the playoff push. In a YouTube video posted Sunday, he shared clips of his rehab, including running on an underwater treadmill. The Timberwolves’ vice president of medical performance, David Hines, indicated Edwards could return in one to two weeks if he meets all pain management, mobility, and strength metrics.
The injury occurred on April 25. Game 1 is nine days later, while Game 4 would be 15 days post-injury.
Without Edwards, the Timberwolves still managed to close out their first-round series against the Nuggets with a Game 6 win at home. Minnesota now faces a tough test as heavy underdogs against the top-seeded Spurs, who posted a strong 62-win regular season.
The team also listed reserve guard Ayo Dosunmu as questionable for Game 1 due to right calf soreness. He missed Game 6 against Denver.
