Navy veteran and veterans’ rights advocate Tommy Marquez called the decision transformative: “This could have a massive positive effect on America’s veterans, our communities, and our nation for years to come.”
Marquez, who served in Naval Special Warfare and later used his own GI Bill benefits to transition into public service, emphasized that the ruling will impact around 1.7 million veterans who accumulated credits under both the Montgomery and Post-9/11 GI Bills. He described it as expanding horizons for nearly two million veterans, allowing them to combine their military experience with higher education, skilled training, or technical school to strengthen American communities and the economy.
